Cancun & The Riviera Maya
ALL-INCLUSIVE RESORTS, WARM WATER, & INCREDIBLE WEATHER
Introduction
Cancun has a reputation; and honestly, it's earned it, but not always for the right reasons. What most people don't know is that when it's planned well, Cancun is one of the most logistically smooth group destinations in the world. Short flights from most major U.S. cities. Resorts built to handle large parties. All-inclusive pricing that keeps costs predictable. And enough to do that every person in your group finds their version of a good time.
The Riviera Maya, (the stretch of coast south of Cancun's hotel zone) is where larger group travel really shines. Resorts here are removed from the busiest tourist corridors but still close to the airport (typically 20–30 minutes), which means you're not putting a tired group on a two-hour bus ride before the trip even starts. The focus isn't the beach, it's the pool scene, the excursions, and the environment that all-inclusive properties create when they're run well.
For college groups, corporate teams, sororities, fraternities, and large friend groups, Cancun delivers something genuinely hard to find: a destination that handles scale without feeling generically produced.

Getting There
Cancun International Airport (CUN) is one of the most accessible international airports for U.S. travelers. Direct flights operate from most major cities, with flight times ranging from two to four hours.
Most Riviera Maya resorts are 20 to 30 minutes from the airport. Private shuttle transfers can be arranged in advance and coordinated with group arrival times, so everyone arrives together and moves efficiently. This matters more than people realize, staggered individual rideshares into a group check-in setting rarely goes smoothly. Arranging group transportation upfront is one of the small logistics decisions that makes the biggest difference on arrival day.

Where to Stay
All-inclusive resorts are the standard for group travel in the Riviera Maya, and for good reason. Predictable pricing, food and beverages included, and a self-contained environment that keeps the group together without requiring constant coordination about where to eat or what to do next.
The Choices That Matter
When selecting a resort for a large group, a few things matter most. Private check-in capability is at the top of the list. Large resort lobbies turn into chaos when hundreds of travelers arrive at once. The best resorts can accommodate pre-arranged private check-ins where luggage is tagged at the shuttle and rooms are assigned before guests arrive, dramatically improving the first impression and the energy going into night one.
Multiple dining options matter too. For groups with dietary restrictions, varying tastes, or simply a lot of people who need to eat at different times, a resort with several restaurants keep the cuisine varied throughout your stay and removes friction.
How We Can Help
Negotiating a contracted rate through a travel advisor like Miles & Memories means your rooms are held, your rate is locked, and it's typically lower than what's posted publicly online. Payment plans can also be extended for groups that book early, with everything due in full 60 days before arrival. The earlier a group books, the more flexible the payment timeline.

Things to Do
The Riviera Maya is built for activity, and water is the anchor. The Caribbean coast is warm year-round, and the reef system offshore makes snorkeling genuinely impressive even for first-timers.
Catamarans
Catamaran excursions are a standout group activity. Private charter options allow groups to book 100-person boats exclusively, creating a floating experience with snorkeling, swimming, music, and drinks included. It's consistently a highlight, and it's only possible at the scale a large group brings. Individual travelers simply can't book a private catamaran for themselves.
The Yucatan Peninsula
For groups that want land-based adventure, the Yucatan Peninsula delivers. Chichen Itza and Tulum are both within a few hours, cenote swimming is unlike anything else in the world, and eco-parks like Xcaret and Xel-Ha combine water activities, wildlife, and cultural experiences into a single full day.
Resort Activities
Back at the resort, pool parties and organized activities keep energy high without requiring anyone to leave. Beach volleyball, water sports, live music, themed events; the options are endless.
For evenings, the resort restaurants handle most groups comfortably.

Who Cancun Is Right For
College & Greek Life Groups.
Cancun is purpose-built for this. All-inclusive pricing keeps costs transparent, payment plans make it accessible for individual students, and the on-property environment keeps large groups safe and organized. Hiring a travel advisor to manage college group travel means negotiated contract rates, managed individual payments so group leaders don't have to chase anyone, and on-site management for the full duration of the trip. We directly specialize in this!
Corporate Teams & Incentive Groups.
The combination of short flights, strong resort infrastructure, and built-in activities makes Cancun a solid corporate choice when the goal is genuine team connection rather than a working retreat. The all-inclusive format removes the friction of group expenses, and the variety of activities means the team can be together or go their own way depending on the day.
Large Friend Groups.
Milestone birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette weekends, and reunion trips work well here because everyone finds their pace. The resort handles the coordination so no single person has to be the planner, which is a big deal when no one in the group wants that job.
Families
The Riviera Maya has strong family-focused resorts with kids' clubs, age-appropriate excursions, and calm, shallow water. Families booking for the first time will find the all-inclusive format especially easy. Nothing to figure out on the ground, just show up and enjoy.
